Buchanan, driving Steve Neumiller's No. 167, started last in the 5-car field, but quickly moved up to grab second on the fourth lap. Prestjohn meanwhile, had opened up a full straightaway-length lead In Rob Edwards No. 169. Buchanan closed the gap though within a couple of laps, and on the final circuit, took over the front spot to snare the win.

Prestjohn finished second, with Leo Ray, In Lenny Lowell's No, 160 third; Joe Trusty, driving Randy Berg's No. 197 fourth; and Dave Holtcr, in Dave McCoy's No. 109. fifth. Jerry Kreber, Chuck Root, Woody Woods and Earl Winchell were unable to compete after the cars they were assigned to drive, couldn't start the event due to mechanical troubles.

The team of Darrell Brink. Steve Barry and Jack Comer won the relay tones In the V-8 modified division, beating Jeff Nelsen in the heat and the main. Buckman. piloting Rudy Miller's "Blue Stallion" No. 2, won both events by a comfortable margin, but Nelsen was a strong second each time.

Darrell Brink was third in the main, with Jerry Zich. in his bright rod No. I. fourth. Zich finished third in the heat.

Neumiller captured two wins for the night in the hobby stock class, outdistancing Steve Barry in the heat and the main. Neumiller, in his No. 167 Camaro, aced the victories in impressive style, with Barry, subbing for LeRoy Naescher in the No. 129 Chevy, a few car lengths back In both events. Dave McCoy was third in the feature, with Lenny Lowell and Dave Olsen fourth and fifth.

Buck Buchanan came out of "retirement'! to win the special "Oldtimer's beating Pete Prestjohn on the Jim Shaw Dan Mansfield. Steve Neumiller and Don Buckman posted main event victories, and Buck Buchanan won the "Oldtimer's Race" Friday night at Black Hills Speedway. Mansfield, in his 6 Automotive Special" No. 18M. butduclcd Jack Comer to post his first sprint car feature victory of the season at BHS.

Mansfield, who took over the lead after Floyd Crisp in the No. 9 dropped out midway through the event, held off several strong challenges from Comer to score the win by less than three car lengths at the flag. Bill Keester, driving the "Black Jack Racing" No. 21, won the heat race, with Comer second, followed by Sam Liebig. in the "Black Rose" No.

The Tech pool will be open for this specific purpose between 6 and 8 p.m. The awards ceremony will be at 2 30 p.m. Sunday at the Tech gymnasium. looking forward to a larger and even more exciting event than last year. Newnum Photography, will be present the day of the Triathlon to photograph the event and will make a special effort to photograph all the participants.

After Oct. 4, all participants will be invited to stop by the Newnum Studio at 802 St. Patrick Street. Rapid City, to receive their complimentary photograph. Extra reprints will also be available for sale.

Once again, the entire event will be computerized with the help of Dr. Tom Propson at Tech. This method has proven to be efficient in delivering results momentarily after the completion of each event. Registration will start Sunday morning, Sept 26 at 6:30 a.m. at the Tech Triathlon set next Sunday Plans are being stepped for the 1982 First National Half Triathlon scheduled next Sunday.
