Hot Springs, Dec. 29-William T. Richer, clerk of courts of Fall River county was the speaker at the last meeting of the Hot Springs Kiwanis club for the year, Thursday night. The veteran clerk talked about his "job" and gave a statistical report of the numerous duties and responsibilities that fall within the office of the clerk of courts as provided by the statutes. He gave a Clerk Of Courts Reports To Rotary brief history of the office since the county was organized in 1634 and reviewed many humorous incidents that have come before him during his term of office.

On Jan. 1, 1946 he will begin his 30th year of continuous service in that capacity, In his statistical report he showed that there had been 299 births recorded during the year 1945 up to the present date. Of these 140 were boys and 159 girls, In the death record 50 far in 1945 it was shown that there had been 157 deaths of which 116 were men and 41 were women. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Thompson. The bride wore a brown wool suit with white accessories. Mrs.

Thompson was dressed in a gray wool suit with matching accessories. The groom, a veteran of 42 months service in the Southwest Pacific area, recently received his discharge from the armed forces. Meidell. 81. a resident of Newell and Belle Fourche since 1919. died Thursday at a local hospital after lengthy illness. Funeral services will he held Saturday at the Congregational church in Beresford, her home before she moved to Butte county.

Mary Hyde Meidell was born at Pawlett. Vermont, Oct. 30, 1834. She moved to Galesburg, with her parents, and lived there until she was graduated from Knox college. In 1897 she came to Beresford to visit her sister and remained there to work in a bank for H.

J. Meidell, whom she married Sept. 29, 1899, After her husband's death in 1919 she came to Newell to make her home with her sister, Mrs. H. W.

Jamison, and has since made her home in Newell and Belle Fourche. Surviving are four nieces. Mrs. Louie Peterson, Beresford: Olive and Helen Meidell, Sioux Falls, and Mrs. C.

J. Dodds, Lawrence, and one nephew, Rev. Winfield Jamison, Brunswick, Ga. Mail Carrier Suffers Cuts And Bruises Martin, Dec. Blare, mail carrier from Merriman, to Martin, suffered severe cuts and in a car accident late in bruises the afternoon Christmas day as Blare was taking the mail into Merriman.

He and his brother-in-law, Lawrence Wamsley, were in a new pickup belonging to Blare, and about four miles north of Merriman, they met in a head-on collision with Woodrow Ward of Martin. Wamsley, who was driving, was not injured and neither was Ward. The pickup was turned over and badly wrecked, but no damage was done to the mail. ST. MARY'S CLUB HAVE POTLUCK SUPPER Thirteen members of the St. Mary's club were entertained at a potluck dinner Friday evening at the parish hall. Cards were played the remainder of the evening with high prize going to Mrs. John Ely.

Mrs. Oliver LaCroix won low. The next meeting of the club will be Jan. 11 at the hall. NORTH RAPID MOTHER'S CLUB ENTERTAINED The North Rapid Mother's club met in the North Rapid hall Friday afternoon with Mrs.

B. D. Hibbard and Mrs. Jack Morgan as hostesses. The meeting opened with the singing of Christmas carols.

Mrs. Earl Giese in charge of devotions used a Christmas theme as her topic. A regular business session was held and names were drawn for pals for the ensuing year. Mrs. Hibbard was elected treasurer of the club to replace Mrs.

Dave Caulkins who resigned her position. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Donald Greenwalt, Jan. 25. HARWOOD-BECKMAN NUPTIAL VOWS EXCHANGED At a double ring ceremony in the Presbyterian manse Friday morning Miss Bernice M.

Beckman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beckman of Des Moines, became the bride of Elmer Harwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Harwood of Haydraw.

The Rev. Rew Walz officiated at the service. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harwood of Haydraw.

The bride wore a gold suit with black accessories and Mrs. Harwood a' brown suit with matching accessories. Present fo rthe ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Harwood, Mr.

and Mrs. A Dale Barry and Day Barry, all of Haydraw, and Mrs. Laura Barry of New Underwood. The bride has been employed for the past seven years by the General Mortgage Company of Iowa with headquarters in Dos Moines. The groom has served in the European theater for 37 months.
