Mulcahy Francis Muehlbauer Services for Francis Muehlbauer, 62, Rapid City, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behrens Mortuary, with the Rev. Les Potts officiating. He died Wednesday at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday. He was born Sept.

15, 1926, in Danvers, to Robert and Marie (Zormeier) Muehlbauer. Muehlbauer was raised and educated in the Appleton, area. He moved to Rapid City in 1956 where he worked for MontanaDakota Utilities Co. until retiring in 1978. He is survived by a son, Gary of Rapid City; a daughter, Susan Muehlbauer of Rapid City; two grandchildren; seven sisters; four brothers; and his mother, Marie Muehlbauer of Appleton.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister. Melvin L. Hicks KADOKA Services for Melvin L. Hicks, 63, Kadoka, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with the Revs.

Gary McCubbin and Eugene Bushnell officiating. He died Tuesday morning at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Burial, with military honors, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church and until service time Friday. He was born Nov. 15, 1924, on a farm near Brookings to Ross and Cuma (Anspach) Hicks. In 1930, he moved with his family to a farm near Kadoka.

He grew up there and graduated from Kadoka High School in 1942. He married Joyce Briggs Nov. 20, 1943, in Rapid City. They lived in the Kadoka area. He served in the Navy in World War II from December 1943 until his discharge in January 1946.

The couple farmed northeast of Kadoka from 1946 through 1952 when illness forced Hicks and his family to move into Kadoka. In 1952, he was elected Jackson County auditor and served through 1956. He then leased a Mobil gasoline station, which he operated through 1962. In 1962, he was appointed Jackson County director of equalization. He served in that position until his death.

In 1981, he and his wife purchased the Hilltop Motel in Kadoka and operated it until his death. He was a member of Kadoka Presbyterian Church, a member and past commander of American Legion Post 27 in Kadoka, an active member and past president of the Badlands Lions Club and Lions cabinet secretary for District 5SW of western South Dakota. Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Kadoka; four sons, Raymond Hicks of Martin, Gary of Spearfish, Larry of Wall and Jimmy of San Jose, four daughters, Patsy (Mrs. Ben) Handcock of Pierre, Sherry (Mrs. Jerry) Peterson of Martin, Peggy (Mrs.

Don) Williams of Philip and Melva Hicks of Gillette, 16 grandchildren and four great a brother, Russell Hicks of Kadoka; and two sisters, Mildred Young of Kadoka and Deloris Ekstrom of Aurora, Colo. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters. Rush Funeral Home of Kadoka is in charge of arrangements. Helen E. Mulcahy Services are pending for Helen E.

Mulcahy, 93, who died Tuesday at her home in Rapid City. Among survivors is her daughter, Katherine Jassmann of Rapid City. Arrangements are with Behrens Mortuary. Ted Consultant, Mrnak Inc. Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church in Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Allen Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, under direction of Frost Sons Funeral Home. Mrs.

Poling died Tuesday at the Mosley Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 27, 1896, in Brown County to August and Inga Lindquist and attended rural school in Brown County. After attending Oak Grove Ladies Seminary in Fargo, N.D., and Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, she taught rural school in Brown County for several years. Then, after graduating from nursing school at Peabody Hospital at Webster in 1921, she worked as a registered nurse about 50 years.

In 1924, she married Fred McGuffin at St. Cloud, Minn. And in 1977, she married Zeo Poling at Great Falls, Mont. Surviviors include a son, A.L. "Mickey" McGuffin of Clinton, N.Y.; a daughter, Grace McGuffin Lang of Belle Fourche; one brother, Ed Lindquist of Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, a daughter, a sister and a brother. Lester W. Manley HOT SPRINGS Mass of Christian burial for Lester William Manley, 75, will be 9 a.m. Friday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Catholic Chapel in Hot Springs, with the Rev. Thomas Tierney officiating.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Manley died Tuesday at his Hot Springs apartment. He was born June 11, 1913, at Sioux Falls, to Joseph P. and Elizabeth (Feyder) Manley.

He enlisted in the Army July 23, 1943, and was discharged July 28, 1946. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Hot Springs. Survivors include a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Cyril) Navin of Sioux Falls. McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Cecil Thompson BELLE FOURCHE Graveside services for Cecil Thompson, 75, Belle Fourche, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pine Slope Cemetery at Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Leo O'Doherty officiating. Thompson died Monday at his home. The body was cremated.

A memorial was established. Frost Sons Funeral Home of Belle Fourche is in charge of arrangements. He was born Oct. 6, 1913, at Chamberlain to Robert and Mary (Weber) Thompson. He moved with his parents to Marcus in Meade County about 1917 and grew up and attended school there.

He herded sheep in Meade and Butte counties, and worked for Rounds Construction Co. as a flagman for several years. He lived in the Belle Fourche area the past 40 years. Survivors include one sister, Anna Fries of Unionville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Wayne D. Vice KADOKA Services for Wayne D. Vice, 64, Kadoka, who died Tuesday afternoon at Rapid City Regional Hospital, will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kadoka, with the Rev. Bruce Falksen officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and at the church before the service. A memorial has been established.

He was born March 3, 1924, in Kadoka to Steve and Maggie (Brugman) Vice. He married Vera Hamm Sept. 1, 1947, at Rapid City. He was a third generation Standard Oil bulk dealer at Interior and then in Kadoka. He was an ordained elder at the Interior Presbyterian Church, and attended Concordia Lutheran Church in Kadoka.

He was a member of the Kadoka Badlands Lions Club and American Legion Post 27, and the Moose Lodge in Rapid City. Survivors include his wife of Kadoka; two sons, Charles of Rapid City and Curtis of Kadoka; a daughter, Cheryl Anderson of Kadoka; three brothers, Clarence Warner and Faye 0'Bryan of Quinn, and Bob Vice of Riverside, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Ned. E.

Branscom NEWCASTLE, Wyo. Services for Osage resident Ned. E. Branscom, 51, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Newcastle, with the Rev.

Gene Hagerman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, under direction of McColley Funeral Home. He died Monday at Weston County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. A memorial has been established. He was born Oct.

26, 1936, at Osage, to Harley and Lucinda (Draper) Branscom. He was raised and educated in Osage and graduated from Upton High School. He worked on various ranches until he was employed by True Oil Co.in 1961 as a pumper and gauger. He married Betty McKenzie June 23, 1956, at Rapid City. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Osage; one son, Clay Branscom of Osage; one daughter, Fonda McFarlin of Fort Upton, two brothers, George Branscom of Wheatland, and Robert Branscom of Buffalo; four sisters, Betty Grant of Athol, Idaho, Mary Bishop of Osage, Edna Douglas of Upton, and Rose Brooks of California; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother. Claire John HETTINGER, N.D. Services for Claire John, 73, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Homme Lutheran Church, Prairie City, S.D., with the Rev. Paul Gregory officiating.

Burial will be in the Prairie City Cemetery. Mrs. John died Wednesday at Hettinger Community Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Walby Chapel in Hettinger, and one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.

She was born April 1, 1915, in South Dakota. A complete obituary will follow. (24 Hour Phone) Rapid City, S.D. Carson H. Dithmer LONG VALLEY Carson H. Dithmer, 68, Long Valley, died Tuesday at the Hot Springs Veterans Administration Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m.

Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Long Valley. The Revs. Eugene Bushnell and Gary McCubbin will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be in Kadoka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m.

Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and one hour before services at the church. A memorial has been established. Dithmer was born Oct. 18, 1919, at Kadoka to Jacob and Lillian (Peters) Dithmer.

He spent his youth in Kadoka until the family moved to their ranch near Long Valley when he was 8 years old. As a young man he worked on the family ranch until moving back to Kadoka in the winter of 1940. In 1941 Dithmer moved to California with his mother and sister, where he joined another brother and sister. Dithmer trained as an apprentice electrician under his brother, Bill Dithmer. When World War II broke out he returned to South Dakota where he enlisted in the Army in 1942.

He served with the First Special Service Force, a unit of combined forces of Americans and Canadians, the only one of its kind. Dithmer received a citation from the King of Norway acknowledging his contribution to the liberation of Norway. He was decorated with seven Bronze Stars. The citation of which he was most proud was the one issued 40 years after his military service had ended. After serving in the military, Dithmer returned to South Dakota to go into the ranching business with his brother, Bill.

He lived the rest of his life here. Dithmer worked with the Selective Service Board and the Farmers Home Administration Board. He is survived by two sisters, Mildred Langford and Maxine Odor, both of Stockton, one sisterin-law, Leila Mae Dithmer of Wanblee; and one brother-in-law, Orval Allen of Kadoka. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Frank P.

Barron Sr. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Frank Peter Barron 75, Rapid City, at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel in Rapid City, with the Rev. Bryan Sorensen as celebrant. He died Monday in Rapid City.

Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military rites by the Ellsworth Air Force Base honor guard. A memorial has been established. He was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Minersville, to John and Helen Barron. He married Kathe Sieber July 25, 1946, in Lentz, Austria.

They lived in Pennsylvania before moving to South Dakota. He retired from Ellsworth Air Force Base. He worked at the base officers club and the Job Corps Center at Nemo. He is a member of the Retired Enlisted Association and the Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include his wife, Kathe Barron of Rapid City; a son, Frank Barron Jr.

of Kadena, Okinawa; three daughters, Kathe A. Barron of Rapid City, Helen J. Flannagan of Piedmont and Elizabeth M. Mayes of Rapid City; and 11 grandchildren. She died Wednesday in Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, and until time of service Friday morning. A rosary and wake service will be at 7 p.m.

and Artie (Kenndy) Hatfield. She graduated from beauty school in Rapid City and later lived in Madison where she owned and operated a beauty shop. She also lived in Deadwood where she worked at the Coast to Coast and J.C. Penney stores, and for Dr. Gordon Betts in She married Otto Auer July 31, 1935, in South Bend, Ind.

They owned and operated a gasoline station in Deadwood until 1943 when they moved to Whitewood. In 1956 they moved to Centennial Valley and farmed until her husband's death in 1965. Mrs. Auer, a member of the Catholic Church in St. Onge, had lived with her son and family in Whitewood the past few years.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Auer of Whitewood; a sister, Rita Anderson, and a niece and nephew, all of California; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. David T. Dreaming Bear OGLALA Mass of Christian burial for David T. Dreaming Bear, 18, who died Monday at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday at Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Church in Oglala. The Rev. Bill Callahan will be celebrant. Burial will be in Our Lady of Good Counsel Cemetery. Wake services will begin at 4 p.m.

Thursday at the church hall. Dreaming Bear was born Aug. 4, 1970, at Pine Ridge to Victor and Phyllis (Ten Fingers) Dreaming Bear. He attended elementary school at Loneman, Flandreau and Brainerd Indian School near Hot Springs and most recently was a junior at Pine Ridge High School. In elementary school, 1 he was outstanding wrestler, competing in a state wrestling meet at Mitchell and at the time of his death was an all-around athlete at Pine Ridge High School.

He is survived by his parents of Oglala and four brothers, Harold, Harlan, Walter and Stewart Dreaming Bear, all of Oglala. He was preceded in death by three brothers, most recently Fernando in a car accident last August. Sioux Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Charles Pearson LEMMON Mass of Christian burial for Charles "Chuck" Pearson, 85, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St.

Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon, with the Rev. Dale Kutil officiating. Pearson died Tuesday at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon. A rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon. He was born May 16, 1903, in Hartford to A.D. and Emma (Bateaman) Pearson. He moved with his parents in 1910 to the southeast Thunderhawk area near Lemmon where they homesteaded. He was raised on the family farm, attended a rural school and later worked for area farmers.

He married Marcella Brodigan Nov. 2, 1928, at Thunderhawk. They moved to Custer where he was employed in a logging camp. In 1932 they returned to farming near Thunderhawk. In 1936 they bought a farm south of Thunderhawk where they lived until 1966 when they moved to Lemmon, turning the farm operation over to a son.

Pearson began working for a liquor store and later became manager, retiring in 1979. He had been in failing health the past five years and lived in the nursing home the past months. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, of Lemmon; four sons, Clarence Pearson of Grand Junction, Howard Pearson of Bowman, N.D., Don Pearson of Lemmon and Charles Pearson of Lusk, a daughter, Patricia (Mrs.

Adrian) Ebel of Cottage Grove, 23 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and three sisters, Clara Smith of Timber Lake, Jesse Peterson of Renton, and Emma Alberts of Yakima, Wash. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Webb Weir Services for Webb Weir, 84, who died Tuesday at Bella Vista Nursing Home in Rapid City, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Behrens Mortuary, with the Rev. Bruce Herrboldt officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Behrens Mortuary. A memorial has been established to the Salvation Army.

Weir was born Sept. 30, 1904, at Humansville, to Samuel L. and Clara Etta (Webb) Weir. He. graduated from Hardin (Mont.) High School in 1923.

Weir married Miriam Gray May 28, 1934, in Rapid City. He worked as an independent insurance agent for Bankers Life Insurance for many years. Weir was a member of the Shrine and was a 50- year Mason. Survivors include his wife, Miriam of Rapid City; one daughter, Theda Hanson of Garland, Texas; four grandsons; and one sister, H- arriette Patterson of McAllen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his daughter and one brother.
