Belle Fourche, died Thursday, February 13, 2003, at the Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 9 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel and Monday one hour prior to the services at the church in Newell.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 17, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Newell, with Rev. Deborah Geelsdottir officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cernetery in Belle Fourche. Bernice was born February 6, 1910.

at Avon, SD. to Arthur and Mabel (Oliver) Luke. She married Theodore "Ted" Lange at Tyndall, SD. on July 28. 1928.

They lived in the Springfield area, where they farmed. In 1953. they moved to Newell, where they farmed. Bernice was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Newell. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors for many years.

Survivors include four sons, Lorman Lange and his wife, Donna, Sturgis, Bill Lange, Newell, Doug Lange, Belle Fourche, and Randy Lange, Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Norma Peschel. Yankton, SD; seventeen grandchildren: and numerous greatgrandchildren. Her parents, her husband. Ted, one son, and four daughters preceded her in death. A memorial has been established to the First Lutheran Church in Newell.

Joseph Werlinger STURGIS Joseph Werlinger, 79, Sturgis, died Wednesday, Feb. 12. 2003, at Sturgis Community Long Term Care Center. Survivors include his wife, Erma Werlinger, Sturgis; one son, Dennis Werlinger, Sturgis; one daughter, JoAnn Derby, Vale; five brothers, James Werlinger and Pius Werlinger, both of Rapid City, Tony Werlinger, Sturgis. Sabastian Werlinger, Nebraska, and Louie Werlinger, Idaho; two sisters, Mary Powers, California, and Frances Jacabsen, Washington; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Carlsen Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, with the Rev. Arnold Kari officiating.

at McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs Myra RAPID McPeek home on Myra McPeek B. McPeek CITY Myra B. left for her heavenly February 13th, 2003, leaving behind her loving husband Milton E. McPeek. She was born to George and Jennie Fish on July 21st, 1920, in Clear Lake, SD.

Myra married the love of her life, Milton on August 6th, 1938, in Watertown, SD. They lived and worked in the Watertown area until 1964. In 1969 they moved to Rapid City and fell in love with the Black Hills, and have resided here ever since. Myra was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Milton; her daughter Melanie Beckman; her son Milton D.

McPeek and wife Toni; two sisters, Pearl Lamber and Bertha Splinter, both of Watertown: her grandchildren, Jeremy Beckman, Jamie Beckman, M.J. McPeek, Cassie McPeek. Michael McPeek; the family of special nephew Daniel Cates and other close relatives. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

on Sunday, February 16th, at Kirk Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 17th, at the First United Methodist Church, 629 Kansas City Street, with the Rev. Doug Diehl officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

RAPID CITY William B. Benson, 70, Rapid City, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Benson, Rapid City: six sons. William J.

Benson, Mark Benson, Michael Benson, Gregory Benson and Timothy Benson, all of Fort Wayne, and Nathan Benson, Woodburn, two daughters, Shari Snow, Rapid City, and Dawn Benson, Fort Wayne; one brother, John Benson, New Castle, one sister, Beatrice Wixon, Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren; and one great -granddaughter. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pine Hills Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses Church, 4021 Range Road, in Rapid City. Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements. will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near with full military honors. Karen I. Wiener I. Wiener HILL CITY Karen I. Wiener, 57, of Hill City, died Thursday, Feb.

13, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born July 22, 1945, in Crosby, to Albert and Josephine Habighorst. On April 24, 1965, she married Bill Wiener in a country church in Aitkin County, MN. They lived north of Crosby, MN, for a year, where they had a house fire, and shortly thereafter moved to the Black Hills. Karen was a registered dietitian at S.D.

Developmental Center, and was accepted into nursing school just prior to being diagnosed with colon cancer. Karen had 9 years of fighting cancer. From the beginning doctors could never Karen say if life expectancy would be more than Wiener 6 months. Her determination, strength and fight to live has far exceeded what the medical profession dictated. Karen never accepted the short term a as an end result.

Retired Dr. Johnson, oncologist at CCI, stood beside Karen in her strength to fight the battle. Karen went to extraordinary measures to continue her quality of life. Karen's positive attitude radiated among those around her. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, a quiet afternoon watching hummingbirds.

In her younger years she loved painting porcelain and fine china. Karen valued her family as her biggest asset. She loved family get-togethers, having her children and grandchildren surrounding her with love. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. For many years she was a leader for the local Girl Scout troop.

Survivors include her husband Bill of Hill City; five daughters, Cindy Michelson and husband Jim, Hermosa, Michelle Bintliff and Glenn, Hill City, Kim Hunsaker and Monty, Fairburn, Pamela Peters and Jeff, Sioux Falls, and Kristina Wiener, Hill City: her mother, Josephine Habighorst, Deerwood, MN; four brothers, Alfred Habighorst, Deerwood, MN, Vernon Habighorst, Carefree, AZ, Paul Habighorst, Esko, MN, and David Habighorst, Gilbert, AZ; two sisters, Linda Olson, Bloomingdale, IL. and Allene Walz, St. Paul, MN; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Albert and brothers Rodger and Dale. Services will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hill City on Monday, February 17, 2003, at 10 a.m., with Rev.

Robert Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Hill City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Karen's name. McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Custer is in charge of arrangements. Robert R.

Reber RAPID CITY Funeral services for Robert R. Reber, age 80, of Rapid City, will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Mr. Reber died on Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at the Fort Meade Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Carlsen Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis. Robert Ray Reber was born August 31, 1922. at Minot, ND, to parents Bert and Clara (McDaniels) Reber.

He served in the US Army in the 147th Calvary K-9 Division in 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 4, 1945. On November 8, 1946, he was united in marriage to Josephine Arguello; the couple made their home in Rapid City. In the early 1960's he owned Bob's Bottle Gas, serving many Rapid City residents; he later was manager of Cal-Gas in Rapid City. He also was part owner of Triple Bar from 1977 to 1987. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and horseback riding.

He volunteered at the Minneluzahan Senior Citizens Center and Mother Butler Center. He was a member of the VFW and DAV. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Reber of Rapid City; sons, Robert Reber Jr. and his wife Karen and Edward Reber and his wife Connie, all of Rapid City: daughters, Nancy Hibbard and her husband Owen of Gilbert, AZ, Judy Bierwagen and her husband Eugene of New Underwood; brothers, Bert Reber and Doyle Reber, both of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Ollie Rounds of Sturgis, Dorris Zimmerman of Sturgis, Shirley Bender of Black Hawk, Avis Lazotte of Apache Junction, AZ; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren. Don staff John and Alethea Parke of Rockerville started celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day by donating platelets at United Blood Services in Rapid City. The Parkes donate platelets about 20 times a year. Merle Eugene Smith NEWELL Merle Eugene Smith, 78, Newell, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Smith, Newell; four children, Allyn Smith, Newell, Gail Brunner, Las Vegas, Gerry Stumpf, Nisland, and Aaron Smith, Whitewood; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, and for one hour before services Monday, Feb. 17, at First Lutheran Church in Newell.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Deb Geelsdottir officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Newell. Memorials have been established for First Lutheran Church and Newell Ambulance Service.

Anthony (Tony) Vukotich RAPID CITY Anthony (Tony) Vukotich, 92, died Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Bella Vista Nursing Home in Rapid City. Tony was a printer and electrician for Homestake Mine for 43 years. He was also an electrician for the historic Explorer balloon launches in 1934 in the Stratobowl. In recent years he was an ardent mall walker, visiting twice daily Monday through Friday. Good blessings to those who took care of him at the Rushmore Mall, mainly Taco John's, Rapid Ride, Robbinsdale Bowling Alley and his Alzheimer's unit at Bella Vista Nursing Home.

Tony was also a grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Rapid City. He was preceded in death by his beloved beautiful wife, Irene, daughter Joyce and two grandsons Shawn and Marc. He is survived by Joan and Jim Conlon (daughter), Mike and Carol Vukotich (son), Carole and Chester Marshall (daughter), John Vukotich (son) all of Rapid City. One brother Jim Kovacevich of Whitewood, SD, and Ann Hantz (sister) of Chicago, IL, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial will be established to the Alzheimer's Association.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Campbell, Paula Quinn Funeral Home with a Vigil beginning at 7p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral with Msgr.

Michael Woster officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City. Victorine L. 'Dickie' Duwenhoegger RAPID CITY Victorine L. "Dickie" Duwenhoegger, 85, Rapid City, died Thursday, February 13, 2003, at a local nursing home.

Dickie was born October 21, 1917, to Joseph and Mary (Mooney) Heissel in Le Mars, Iowa, where she grew up. On November 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Carl O. Duwenhoegger in Owens, Iowa. The couple farmed in Owens until 1949, when they moved to Sisseton. They farmed in the Sisseton area until 1962, when they moved to Rapid City.

Dickie was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She is survived by one son, Carl "Joe" Duwenhoegger and his wife, Val, Rapid City; four daughters, Carlene Deck and her husband, Gene, Rapid City, Norma Jane Prestjohn, Quinn, Gail Christopherson and her husband, Thorphn, of Ipswich, and Susie Taylor and her husband, David, of Rapid City; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, in 1963; two brothers; five sisters; and a son-in-law, Emmitt Prestjohn, in 1989. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.

on Monday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City, with a Christian wake service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City, with Rev.

Ron Garry presiding. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Peter's Cemetery in Sisseton.
