Rapid City, died Thursday. Feb. 22, 2001. at her home. Ruth Eleanor Jensen was born October 22.

1924. in rural Beresford. S.D.. to Chris and Minnie (Lee) Jensen. She was the youngest of eight children and her nickname was "Sister." She attended Pleasant Rural School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1942.

On July 28, 1946, she married Dale C. Yeoman at her parents' home on a farm near Beresford. They made their home in Vermillion. S.D.. until moving to Rapid City in 1949.

Her greatest joy was caring for her family and their home. She also enjoyed flower gardening, golfing. reading and entertaining family and friends. She was extremely caring and proud of her 11 grandchildren. She was a member of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Brenner and her husband, Larry. Columbus. Sandra Lashley and her husband, Larry, Fort Collins, two sons. Scott Yeoman and his wife. Susan, Rapid City, and Chris Yeoman and his wife, Jeanne, Raton, New Mexico; four sisters, Leona Bird and her husband.

Clark, Denver, Evelyn Torrey, Denver, Ileen Tollefson, Beresford. S.D.. Esther Heglin, North Platte. one brother. Ernest Jensen and his wife, Shirley, Beresford, S.D.; a -in-law, Ray Reed, Denver.

11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, on Nov. 29. 1993: her sister, Isabell Reed; her brother, Raymond Jensen; and her parents. Visitation will be from 3 p.m.

until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bob Ruedebusch officiating.

He was married to Colleen Julius from 1956 to 1967. Jim is survived by Donald Owen, his companion and partner of 33 years; his father, Freeman J. Gilbert of Belle Fourche; his son, Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Sarah, and granddaughter, Anna Gilbert of Lincoln, his daughter, Pamela, and son-in-law, Cary, and granddaughters, Madison and Hannah DeCamp of Shawnee, Kansas; his brother, Jerry Gilbert, and sister-in-law, Lois Gilbert of San Antonio, Texas: his sister and brother Ardyth Helmer and Larry Helmer of Belle Fourche; his brother, Wayne Gilbert, and sister-in-law, Kris Thielen of Rapid City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Gilbert, in 1997. Memorial services will be held at Longview Community College Education Center in Kansas City at 2 p.m.

Jim was born March 11, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Jim received his B.S. in Physics from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1958, and a Master's in Physics from the University of Colorado in 1961. He taught at Lodi Adventist Academy in California from 1962-1965, and at Union College for one year. In 1967, he moved to Kansas City.

After two years as an engineer for Western Electric, Jim resumed teaching physics and astronomy at Longview Community College in 1970, and in 1993 was appointed Chair of the Math, Physics and Engineering Department.
