These experiences later led to Bill's employment at Bald Mountain Mining Company and later Homestake Mining Company. Bill served in the South Dakota National Guard during the 1960's and greatly enjoyed this experience and service to his country. Bill's natural mechanical curiosity also led him to observe the mechanics at Bickle's Truck and Diesel Shop.

Mr. Bickle could see that Bill was a quick study. He offered Bill a job with training to become a diesel mechanic. He became one of the very best. This relationship later resulted in his purchase of the business in 1985.

Bill had a great pride in the business to which he dedicated his heart and soul. During the spring of 2006, he realized his biggest dream when he built and opened a modern diesel repair shop in Belle Fourche. Bill enjoyed fishing, four -wheeling, music and spending time with his family and the many friends who loved him so much. Bill is survived by three sisters, Marie Reman, with whom he resided in Spearfish, Arline Ruby and LeRoy of Belle Fourche, and Mary Elizabeth Schiefer and Roy of Rochford; one brother, Arthur Edward Johnston and Darlene of Arcata, Calif. Bill also leaves behind two daughters, numerous grandchildren, and an extensive number of nieces and nephews.

His relationship with niece. Susan Reman Young of Cheyenne, and nephews, Michael Johnston. Spearfish and Gary Ruby of Belle Fourche, were of particular importance to him through the difficult times. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

Harold A. Simpson RAPID CITY Harold A. Simpson, 79. Rapid City, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie Simpson, Rapid City: two sons, Ben Simpson, Belle Fourche, and Ed Simpson, Spearfish; and three daughters. Sue Bechard, Black Hawk. Sharon Faiman, Rapid City, and Sandy Axdahl, Box Elder. Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City. Bertha Herman DENVER Bertha Herman, 91.

Denver and formerly of Belle Fourche, S.D., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Elk 1 Run 1 Assisted Living Facility in Denver. Survivors include three children, Ronald Herman, Kennewick, Joylene Cox. Littleton, and Cynthia E. Schlenker, Gering, nine grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.

Her husband, Henry, preceded her in death. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.

19, 1945, serving on the US Maddox DD731 ship during WWII. He was honorably discharged March 28, 1949. Fred worked as a salesman and business manager for Electrolux and was very active in sales. He won 1 numerous sales awards which he was very proud of. Spearfish, passed on from this life into eternal living on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at her home in Spearfish. Viola fought her long health battles with courage and grace. She was surrounded by her family at her time of passing.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish, with Pastor Kip Roozen officiating.

Viola was born on November 26. 1928, in Keldron. to Frank E. Dorsett and Della M. (Hetzel) Dorsett.

She was raised by her grandparents, John E. Hetzel and Sopha (Goshhorn) Hetzel. Viola moved to Spearfish, SD, as a teenager and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1946. Viola worked at Bell's Luncheonette, where she met the love of her life, Donald L. Miller.

They were joined in Holy Matrimony on January 20, 1947, in Brookings, SD. From this union seven children were born. Viola was a wonderful wife and mother. The couple lived on a farm in Wyoming for a short time and later moved back to Spearfish in 1950. Viola worked for Morrow Creamery, Bell's Luncheonette, Spearfish Cabins and Miller and Son Sawmill.

As her children grew, she worked for State Farm Insurance and other businesses as a bookkeeper. Viola was very active in the VFW Auxiliary and served as treasurer for the district for five years. She was also very active in the Women of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed hunting, working wood with her husband, spending time with family and friends. crocheting and lots of other crafts.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 60 years, Donald L. Miller, Spearfish; three sons, Robert (Carol) Miller, Rapid City, Jack Miller, Rockaway Beach, MO, and Herbert (Laura) Miller, Rochester, MN; three daughters, Linda (Wayne) Boulware, Kingsville, TX, Beth Gross, Sioux Falls, and Maelynn (James) Poitra, Belle Fourche: brother, James Dorsett, Spearfish; and sister, Edna Stillwell, Davenport, was very proud and blessed to have 23 grandchildren. 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; two brothers, Herbert and Frank Dorsett; daughter, Joyce A. Boyer; four grandsons, David Miller, Bob Buchholz, Scott Buchholz and Andrew Miller; great -grandson, Tucker Gross; brother-in-law.

Cavier, 77, Hot Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Hot Springs Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Survivors include two brothers, Harold Cavier, Ravinia, and Merle Cavier, Hopkins, Minn.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, with the Rev. Jake Jacobson officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Written condolences can be made at www.mccolleyschapels.com. McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements. Carol Ann Hunt Hunt, 68. Hulett, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Pioneer Manor in Gillette.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Backen, Hulett, Tom Hunt, Prosser, Neil Schostag, Nebraska, and Charles Anderson, West Richland, two daughters, Kathryn Gwen Backen, Ellensburg, and Kimberly K. Martinez, Sunnyside, one brother, Leland Hermance, Ritzville, one sister, Noel Kuhn, Santa Rosa, 19 grandchildren; and three great -grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at First Baptist Church in Hulett, with the Rev.

Larry Kellner officiating. A memorial has been established. Fidler-Roberts Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance is in charge of arrangements. HULETT, Wyo. Carol Ann BISON Mass of Christian Burial for Clifford Seidel, 79, lifelong Bison.

SD, area farmer and rancher, will be Saturday morning, January 27, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison, with Fr. Brian Fawcett and Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow at the Bison Cemetery.

Visitations were from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD, and will be one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at the church. A Wake service was on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Church in Bison. Clifford Ervin Seidel was born on July 16.

1927, near Meadow, SD, to Phillip and Elizabeth (Mattis) Seidel. He grew up on the family farm, attended grade school and two years of High Store in anticipation of the Federal Dam being planned at Bixby. When the dam project was changed to be built at Shadehill, SD. they returned to the farm east of Bison, SD, and raised their family. Cliff's life was farming and ranching.

He truly enjoyed all aspects involved in having a successful operation. He particularly enjoyed the state fairs and machinery expos. In 1967, Cliff and Dorothy built a new home on the farm. When they retired in 1986, they moved into Bison. They enjoyed taking many bus trips and later traveled a great deal in their small RV.

One of the most memorable trips was when they motored to Alaska with Henry and Ava Hoff in their motor -home. Cliff served on township boards, was a founder and director of the South Dakota Livestock Production Records, an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church as a Trustee and Council Officer, treasurer of and organizer of the Boy Scouts in Bison, was a director at Bison Grain since 1965, and was a promoter and driver of the first Senior Citizens Bus Service in Bison. Cliff passed away at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND, on January 24, 2007. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Dorothy, of Bison; sons, Ron (Nancy), Meadow, SD.

Robert (Marilyn), Sioux Falls, SD and Richard (Julie), of Bison; sisters, Shirley Biel, of Newark, OH, and 1 Pearl Penor, of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Sondra (Dean) Iverson, Dana (Bruce) Hendrickson, Chris (Kortney), Brad (Kristen), Erin, Molly, Beth and Madelyn Seidel; step grandchildren, Jarvis, Josh and Jhonda Bruhn; greatgrandchildren, Lindsey, Logan and Layton Hendrickson, Alex and Matt Iverson and Kahlea Seidel and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Cliff in death were his parents, Phillip and Elizabeth Seidel and one brother, Ray Seidel. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the EvansonJensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD. Cliff graduated from Lemmon High School in 1945. He worked for L.B. Boorman at the Lemmon Leader Newspaper printing office while going to school. He began farming while he was still in high school. Cliff was united in marriage to Dorothy Kari at St.

James Church in Drew, SD, on January 26, 1948. They made their home on the farm in an 8 by 28 foot trailer house. To this union three Seidel sons were born. Ronald, Robert and Richard. They spent a few months running the Bixby Seidel OF RAPID CITY 1240 Jackson Blvd.
