2, CHADRON RECORD, Tuesday, March 2, 1993 Network helps meet area's needs By ERIC FOWLER For the Record The Greater Northwest Nebraska Network Group met Wednesday in Chadron to discuss issues effecting economic development in northwest Nebraska. Headed by Lue Jensen, this voluntary group is comprised of professionals, community representatives and representatives of private or government entities who are interested in the community and economic development in this part of the state. Formation of such groups was encouraged by the Nebraska State De- partment of Economic Development aware of the issues in higher educato better equip people in communi- tion, particularly financing, and the ties on how to meet their own needs. impact they may have on the longSeven such groups exist statewide. term economic health of the region.

Its low relative humidity gives it a noticeably hard, uncomfortable edge, and you may feel cooler than you should. A Lennox Humidiwheel humidifier takes the harshness out by automatically evaporating up to 18 gallons of airsoftening moisture each day and distributes it to every room of your home through your ducted heating system. The watertight cabinet with built-in drain won't rust or corrode, and a large service panel makes cleaning easy. They have been excluded this year under the idea that the long term businesses will in turn bring the need and support for retail, Plans written in 1992 may still qualify for retail grants.

April 1 15 is the deadline for community development applications. Grants are made on a first come, first serve basis depending on the quality of the proposal. The March 30 Housing Conference in Chadron was discussed by Lue Jensen. The purpose of the conference is to give communities in the region information needed to develop the housing in those communities. The focus of the conference will be elderly and low to moderate income housing in the region.

Presentations will be made by people involved in government programs that support the planning and building of such housing. Jensen said that because most of the communities in the area are small, the housing is often "old and functionally obsolete." The housing in a community needs to fit the profile of the community according to age and income. "Adequate housing is essential for communities to be desirable for people to live and work in," said Jensen.
