Page 2 CHADRON RECORD, Wednesday, July 10, 2002 I 6P Marian Elizabeth Mohrlang Patterson Aug. 7, 1917 -June 28, 2002 Marian Elizabeth Mohriang Patterson, 84, of Chadron, died June 28 at the Chadron Community Hospital. At her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be on July 12 at 11 30 a.m. at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Rev.

Richard Landrigan officiating. Inurement will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be in Chadron on July 17 at 7 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Lynn Orville officiating.

Memorials have been established for the Chadron Rescue Unit and the American Heart Association and may be sent to First National Bank of Chadron, P.O. Box 1351, Chadron, 69337. Mrs. Patterson was bom Aug. 7, 1917 in Hastings, the daughter of George N.

and Katherine Kissler Mohrlang. The family moved to Scottsbluff in 1930 and later to Gering where she graduated from Gering High School. She married Lannon "Par Patterson on Nov. 26, 1939 in Scottsbluff, where she lived most of her life. She was a homemaker and mother to her two children.

She later worked as a secretarybookkeeper for various companies in Scottsbluff. Most recently she was employed by West Nebraska Commission on Aging until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, was a Camp Fire Girts and Cub Scout leader and was involved in homemaker extension organizations. Mrs. Patterson was a life-long blood donor.

She lived in Boulder, Chadron and Crawford between the late 1960's and early 1980's. She returned to Chadron in 1999 where she resided until her death. She is survived by her brother Warren K. Mohriang and wife Maxine of Burley, Idaho; daughter Sheryll Patterson-Black and husband Gene of Lakewood, son Neal Patterson and wife Colleen of Chadron; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Lannon in 1960, sister Esteleen Colling and brother Kenneth Mohriang.

Grand opening events at the Chadron store are July 11-14. 3ws Brio Chadron to host Babe Ruth tourney Wednesday, July 17 will be the opening round for 13 year-okl state Babe Ruth baseball tournament. Six teams from around the state will compete inn the four-day double elimination tournament. Scottsbluff will meet Alliance at 4 pro. and Chadron will face Gering at 7 pro.

Ogallala and Sidney drew byes. All games will be played at the Maurice Horse" legion field on North Main Street. Tournament passes for families and individuals will be sold, along with daily admission. Anyone wanting to volunteer pr get more information can call tournament director Jack Nemeth at 432-69. Drought management seminar set First National Bank of Chadron is sponsoring a drought management, seminar to provide area farmers and ranchers information on manage-; ment alternatives and available resources.

The seminar will take place at the Chadron State College Student' Center at Tuesday, July 16 from 1 pro. to 4:30 pro. and is free. Topics and presenters include: Early weaning and alternative feed souices-Dr. Ivan Rush, UNL! Extension; economics of herd downsizing and rebuilding versus feeding-Dr.

Dillion Feuz, UNL Extension; retained ownership: break-evens on feeding calves and yearlings-Gary Damall, Damall Feedlot and hod health and early weaning of calves-Dr. John Gamby and Dr. Lynn Steadman. USDA drought assistance programs-Janet Woodhull, FSA Farm Loan manager and Jeff Peterson, FSA Executive Director. Hours and birthday drawing July 19 The Chadron RSVP will host the monthly hours and birthday drawing at the office at 270 Pine St.

The contest is sponsored by the reorganized-out-of-existence school of liberal arts at Chadron Stale College. For encouragement to participate or other information, call Ron Miller, even coordinator, at 432-2384. Motocross racing set for Sunday Motocross racers from Wyoming, South Dakota and. Nebraska will be at the Badlands Motocross Track, legated five miles north of Chadron, on Sunday, July 14 for the High Plains Motocross Association races. The races feature 21 different classes of competition to allow for all age groups (from four yean old to adult) and ability Sign up for the races is 7 aro.

Concessions at the races will be hosted by the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department as part of on-going fund raising efforts for a new rescue unit. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron. She died July 4. Memorials have been established for the Chadron Senior Center and the Church of Christ.

Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel at P.O. Box 970, Chadron, 69337. She was bom Nov. 22, 1912 in Ada, the daughter of Walter and Maggie Williams. The family moved to Chadron when Ruby was 17.

She completed her senior year at Chadron High School. She married Lib Ditonto July 15, 1933 and they had two daughters. Mrs. Ditonto was a member of the Church of Christ, Does, Eastern Star, and Rebekahs- Noble Grand of Rebekahs 1981. Survivors include her daughter Linda and son-in-law Ralph Byerty of Chandler, son-in-law George Shinker of Lincoln, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and sister Virginia Williams of Ada, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lib Ditonto, daughter Marilyn Shinker, two sisters and two brothers. Phyllis Winona Hallsted Nov. 26, 1946 -July 7, 2002 Funeral services for Phyllis Winona Hallsted, 55, of Crawford will be July 12 at 10 a.m. at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Chadron.

Pastor Eldon Mincks will officiate. A memorial has been established for the Crawford Rescue Unit or the donor's choice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970 Chadron, 69337. Mrs.

Hallsted was bom in Rome, Nov. 26, 1946 to Leonard A and Eloise M. (Trapp) Hallsted. She died July 7 at her home in Crawford. The family moved to Nebraska in 1959.

She is the first of three children. She graduated from Chadron High School in 1964 and received her college degree from Chadron State College in elementary education. She taught In Beaver Wall and Ainsworth Schools for four years before moving to Crawford. She returned to school and got her masters degree in elementary education. Mrs.

Hallsted enjoyed children, her friends, church, school and traveling. She belonged to Phi Delta Kappa International Reading Association and the local affiliate. She is survived by her mother Eloise of Chadron, brothers Ron of Chadron, Hap Jr. and wife Martha Hallsted of Columbia, Mo and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Leonard A Hallsted.

Rosella S. Tollman Haynes Aug. 28, 1923 June 30, 2002 Rosella S. (Tollman) Haynes died June 30 in her home in Richmond, of heart disease. Graveside service to be announced will be at Crawford Community Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Oakland Kaiser Hospice, 235 West MacAruther Oakland, 94611. She was bom Aug. 28, 1923 at Belmont to Rex and Ora Tollman. She was the oldest of seven children. She is survived by her husband of 33 years Fred Haynes of Richmond, daughter Sandra Caves-Gonzales of Richmond, step-son Michael Haynes and wife Dottie of Sparks, brother Dick Tollman of Lusk, sister Neva McGregor of Crawford; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents Rex and Ora Tollman, brothers George, Clarence and Don Tollman, sister Jody McCoy and her only son Don Caves. Ruby D. Smith Aug. 9, 1918 -July 5, 2002 Memorial services for Ruby D. Smith, 83, of Alliance will be Friday, July 12 at 10 am.

at the United Methodist Church in Alliance. The Rev. Mark Schutt and Rev. Dan Floyd will officiate. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Friday, July 5 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. She was bom Aug. 9, 1918 in Alliance to Daniel and Edith (Sisley) Colerick. She married Marion Smith on Ocl 10, 1938.

They lived most of their years in Alliance. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alliance and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Mary Smith of Hastings and Ron and Sharon Smith of Grand Island, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Erma Hawley of Alliance and Alta and Gene Holthus of Cheyenne, Wyo. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in Alliance. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Emmaline G. Sauser Nov. 6, 1915 -July 6, 2002 Funeral services for Emmaline G. Sauser of Oglala, S.D., 86, were today (July 10) at 11 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Mission in Pine Ridge, S.D.; with Fattier Peter Klink SJ.

officiating. Mrs. Sauser was bom Nov. 6, 1915 to Parker and Amelia (Traversie) Gage in Timberiake, S.D. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1935 and then attended and graduated from Mettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1936.

She completed a two year program in just one year. After graduating she worked at Cheyenne River Agency for one year and then transferred to the Pine Ridge Agency in 1938. She married Ray Sauser on April 4, 1940. They had two sons, Jon and Jim. After 20 years of work.

with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Service she retired and the family moved to the ranch. In 1967, she went back to work at the Loneman School and nine years later in 1976, she once more retired and spent the remainder of her time with family at the ranch. She is survived by her husband, Ray, sons Jon and his wife Deb Sauser of Chadron; Jim and his wife Marla of Oglala, S.D.; brother Bernard Gage of Seattle, sister Catherine Johnson of Flandreau, S.D.; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Gary Glenn Colgate March 29, 1963-July 5, 2002 Gary Glenn Colgate, 39, who grew up in Chadron, died suddenly at his home in Naples, on Friday, July 5.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at the Fuller Funeral Home at 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples. Burial will be a Palm Roy ale Cemetery. Colgate was bom March 29, 1963. He was two years ojd when his parents moved to Chadron.

In 1 981 he graduated from Chiadron High School, where he participated in football, wrestling and golf. He was as all-state football player as a senior. He also played football at Chadron State College, where he grad-uated in 1986. He then taught industrial education and coached at Macy, before moving to Naples in 1989. He taught graphic arts and coached girls' golf at Lely High School For a Great Deal before purchasing a business, Captains Cabin, in Naples five years ago.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating. Survivors include his wife Tanya; daughters Jamie and Taylor; step-daughter Tlerra Sirosky; parents Pat and Jodi Colgate; broth-: ers Bill and wife Ginger of Sarasota, Ken and wife Annette of Marlboro, and Bob of Lincoln. A memorial has been established for the National Ataxia Foundation.
